Life Peninsula Eye Hospital is an advanced eye care centre designed by ophthalmologists, for ophthalmologists. Purpose built and dedicated to eye surgery only. It is the only dedicated eye hospital in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. It’s a modern facility with state-of-the-art equipment. 20 ophthalmologists use the 3 theatre hospital - this allows the facility to maintain high standards of care by keeping up to date with new equipment purchases.
The dedicated friendly and efficient staff are all permanently employed and have a special interest in eye care. A number have been nominated for Discovery Excellence Awards for Nurses
The Laser Suite
Life Peninsula Eye hospital houses the Laser Suite where all our Laser surgery is performed. Two important factors influence the outcome of laser surgery – first is the experience of the surgeon and secondly is the equipment used. The hospital recently invested in a Wavelight Allegretto EX 500 – it utilises a modern, novel technique of removing corneal tissue and is one of the fastest growing laser systems used in USA and Europe. This platform, coupled with the oculyser and topolyser scanning devices performs a customised wavefront optimised ablation for every patient ensuring the best possible visual outcome.
